Dr. Carlton P. Byrd is the Senior Pastor of the 3,000-member
Berean Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church of Atlanta, GA, the largest Seventh-day Adventist congregation in the South Atlantic Conference of SDA.
Byrd is a graduate
of Oakwood College in Huntsville, AL with dual degrees, a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theology and a Bachelor of Science Degree
in Business Management. He is also a graduate of Tennessee State University in Nashville, TN, where he earned the Master
of Business Administration Degree, and a graduate of Andrews University (SDA Theological Seminary) in Berrien Springs, MI,
where he earned both the Master of Divinity Degree, and most recently, the Doctor of Ministry Degree with an emphasis in African
American Religious Studies.
In his thirteen years of pastoral leadership, Byrd has constructed and renovated churches,
baptized over 1,500 persons, served on numerous denominational and community boards, along with serving as a guest minister
on the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN). Since his arrival in August, 2006 as the Senior Pastor of the Berean SDA
Church in Atlanta, over 450 persons have been baptized, church attendance has increased, the church sanctuary has been completely
remodeled, and a television ministry has been launched at the Berean Church that currently airs weekly on two Atlanta television
stations. In 2007, Byrd was the recipient of the coveted "Chosen Pastor Award" for Atlanta’s Gospel
Choice Awards, which recognizes outstanding pastors in the Metropolitan Atlanta area for their exceptional leadership and
community involvement. Additionally, Byrd has been named as one of the prized residents for “Who’s Who in
Black Atlanta” for 2008, and has been selected as the Oakwood College Alumnus of the Year for 2008.
Dr. Byrd
is happily married to the former Danielle Mounter, and they are the proud parents of two girls, Christyn and Caileigh.
